Rachael flies the flag!

Rachael Wignall, C-TEC’s award winning apprentice, is spearheading a National campaign to attract young people into manufacturing.

22-year old Rachael, the Manufacturing Institute’s current Young Manufacturer of the Year, is attending events up and down the country as part of the Institute’s mission to attract young people, particularly girls, into modern industry.

At the latest ‘Challenging Stereotypes’ event at North Manchester High School for Girls, Rachael joined 20 other high flying women from science, manufacturing and engineering, to highlight the rewarding career opportunities in science and industry that are available to girls as well as boys.

Says Rachael: “My manufacturing career has been extremely challenging as well as fun and rewarding. I would encourage any young person to look beyond the stereotypes and consider the exciting possibilities of working in industry.

“ I have been very impressed by the enthusiasm and aptitude of all the youngsters I have met during my visits and hopefully I have helped to encourage a few more budding manufacturers of tomorrow.”

Stephen Collier, C-TEC’s Manufacturing Manager, comments: “Rachael is an inspiring role model for young people. Her hard work and commitment continue to shine through and we are very proud of her work in schools, colleges and the community in general.”
